It’s true, you’ve learned everything during kindergarten
Recently, a friend of mine called me up and told me that he was assigned by his boss to interview applicants. Having no such interviewing experience before, my friend sought my advice on what questions he should ask and what criteria he should use to evaluate the applicants.
My advice to him was to focus more on attitude, not on skills. And what attitude should he look for? I told him, all he need is to consider the applicant as a kindergarten:
- Does he/she get along well with others?
- Does he/she play nice?
- Does he/she put his/her things away when he/she finished playing?
- Is he/she excited and curious about new things?
- Does he/she likes learning?
- Does he/she respect and obey authority?
Everyone can learn skills. But one has to have the right attitude and enthusiasm for it. And really, all the important qualities we need in life are those that we learned and developed during our kindergarten years.
